Since its establishment BA School of Business and Finance (BASBF), Latvia demonstrates both commitment and contribution to the developments of future oriented strategies in finance, business and cybersecurity management.

This academic year under the leadership of BASBF, a strategy covering a new period “Latvian Financial Literacy Strategy 2021-2027” has been developed and presented at the press conference held on March 22 in which participated high level experts from the financial and academic field: Governor of the Bank of Latvia, Chairman of the Financial and Capital Market Commission, and Vice-Rector for Research, Infrastructure and Business Development of BASBF. The Strategy envisages further development and the creation of financial literacy culture as well as sustainability in order to improve the financial strategy planning, management and the involvement of all stakeholders. It also aims at educating the public in its financial literacy in a digital era.   A further discussion on how to create a financial literacy culture was arranged online available for the society.

Within the framework of a Digital Week 2021, launched annually by the European Commission, BASBF in cooperation with JSC Development Financial Institution “Altum” organized the conference “Interaction of Universities and Industries – Added Value and Challenges in the Digital Economy”. The conference participants debated on relevant aspects such as the role of universities in a digital transformation and on how to reach desirable results from the university and industry cooperation.

The major focus was on the way how universities cooperate with the industry and identify the partnership models benefiting both partners, thus creating the rapport for further successful collaboration leading to a mutual business development. The rector of BASBF, Dr. Liga Peiseniece highlighted that university and industry partnership has a three- fold benefit: it is beneficial for the university, industry and the society.
